There are at least two ways to make a scrunchie, and today we are going to explore one of them. Prepare your yarn, crochet hook, tapestry needle, elastic band, and a pair of scissors and let’s start!
Step 1
Make a rectangle of around 10 cm x 55 cm. I like to crochet in longer rounds, so I start with a long chain, and I crochet in double crochets – 10 rounds in total.
Step 2
Sew the shorter side, place the visible stitching inside the scrunchie.
Step 3
Time to place the elastic in the middle of the rectangle (the long side).
Step 4
Start stitching through the top rounds. I try to go through outside loops to make a smoother edge. Pay attention to the rounds you’re choosing to go evenly on both sides!
